PSG Overcomes Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure Trophee des Champions Season-Opening Trophy in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side fired twice late to take a surprise advantage. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying seconds to send the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to complete a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
